Baalbek Biogas Facility, a pilot project funded by the EU under the ENPI-Med program, promotes clean technologies in the Middle East. It processes 8,000 tons/year of bio-waste to generate electricity and heat, powering the entire Baalbek Solid Waste Compound (biogas, sorting, composting, landfill), making it energy self-sufficient. Anaerobic digestion reduces CO₂eq emissions, and the digestate is composted to produce high-quality fertilizer.
